Stadtmuseum Gelnhausen

The Gelnhausen Town Museum exhibits the works of the writer Johann Jacob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, who was born here. His work “Der abentheurliche Simplicissimus Teutsch” provides an insight into life and suffering during the 30-year war.

Other sections and an installation in a 12-metre-high staircase tower show the extensive history of the town from the Middle Ages (Imperial Palatinate-Barbarossa) to the end of the 20th century.
