Philipp Reis-Haus Friedrichsdorf

The life and work of the inventor is on display in the former home of Philipp Reis. Historic telephones tell the story of their origins and the times as an audio station.

Friedrichsdorf also includes the history of the Huguenots who founded the town, the heyday of the dyeing trade and the development of the factories for rusks, noodles and hats.

“The aim was to create multi-layered departments to appeal to visitors in different ways. The focus is on the exhibits, contextualized by text panels, film stations and hands-on elements. As many senses as possible are involved through audio plays, tactile models and diffusers.”
