Timber construction and tents

Niederösterreichisches Landesmuseum Asparn a.d. Zaya

A Celtic timber construction was erected for the open-air area of the Lower Austrian Provincial Museum in Asparn a.d. Zaya. The construction follows the excavation findings from Michelstetten, which is interpreted as a passage hall or meeting house. An open half-timbered building with a gatehouse and surrounding plank palisade was erected, the roof was covered with larch shingles.

For the open-air area, we also reconstructed a yurt based on the findings from Grubgraben, Austria, and a leather tent based on the findings from Ahrensburg, Schleswig-Holstein.
