Roman watchtower
Roman Fort Saalburg, Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe
All along the watchtower
We have built a 1:2 scale model of a Roman watchtower for the Saalburg Museum. The tower, which is over 5.70 meters high, is part of an exhibition on Roman weaponry at the Saalburg Roman fort. It is open at the front so that visitors can take a look inside and at the furnishings.
Kitchen and workshops
The “Workshops” series at Saalburg fort has been extended by the installation of a Roman shoemaker’s and bone carver’s workshop. Execution in oak framework, walls plastered with clay, various pieces of furniture and tools. The second staging shows a replica of a Roman kitchen based on archaeological finds and findings with a brick-built hearth with a wooden oven and various pieces of furniture.
