Excavation camp

Westfälisches Landesmuseum Herne

A covered “excavation camp” has been set up in the outdoor area of the Westphalian State Museum of Archaeology in Herne. Here, visitors can work just like on a real excavation and uncover and measure finds from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages.

We have integrated the “finds”, replicas of originals, into so-called inlays and incorporated them into the “excavation area”, as well as staging the cut of a medieval church wall and a Roman wooden well.
